I believe our experience in Cuzco can be summarized in a simple phrase, "A Peruvian tourist's paradise". Unfortunately, neither Jon or I came to Peru to be a "tourist". Our ideal did not include American movies, American food, and American prices, all of which the tourist's paradise provided. Walking through the streets we felt more like dollar signs than people.
With that said, Cuzco is a beautiful city nestled in the mountains and is widely regarded as having the best nightlife in Peru. Although we didn't partake in the nightlife, the city had much to offer. We enjoyed a tour of a monastery, the local market, and beautiful scenery all over the city (churches, mountains, & people).
Cuzco was before and after the city Ollantaytambo, which was near Machu Picchu.
