This past Friday night proved to be a good experience for me. I attended the Ani Difranco concert, and was quite pleased with the show. In particular, a patriotic poem, which I thought was hilarious, grabbed my attention. As it was described by Ani to the Arbiter Online:

P.S. Cam, you missed out.
There's one long poem, for instance, on the new record called 'Grand Canyon,' which is a self-described patriotic poem, because I hate it when language is taken away from people, you know, when great words like 'feminist' are turned into dirty taboos. And 'patriot' is another one that has recently been controlled and bastardized by the mainstream media and the establishment. I think we've been fed a very false idea of 'patriot,' or maybe a fascist idea of 'patriot,' which is to be blindly accepting, obedient and non-critical of the government. I think the idea of 'patriot' in a democracy is a very different thing.
Here's a couple of low quality pictures from the show. The pictures were taken at a distance, and I didn't want to mess around with exposure settings.

Mike-
I am confident that I didn't miss out on the concert. You know me...that just ain't my cup of tea. As for missing out on the rest of the weekend, you are right. I will, however, try to make up for it by coming this weekend. Hopefully, you will still be on US soil. I would like to party with ya before you take off.
