Christmas Party

| | Comments (0)

As it is becoming a tradition, I attended our high school friend Christmas party, hosted by Steph and Jill. This year may not have reached the same level of drunkenness that was achieved in years past, but it definitely was a good time. I have posted the pictures of the night here.

Fight Night

A couple weeks ago I went out with a few friends (Jon, Katie & Hedi) for a nice Thai dinner and then for a few drinks afterwards. The food was great and it was great to see at least a few friends that I don't get to see too often. The following are a couple pictures from the night:

Jon, Katie, & Rachel
Mike & Jon

However, at the first bar I had the pleasure of meeting the most infuriating man I have ever met in my life. He was nice enough to insult every person at the table, make a few racist comments, and attempt to pick a fight with Jon and me. The addition of alcohol did not help the situation, but I can guarantee a sober encounter with this man would most likely not result much differently. If nothing else, this was a good learning experience for me to understand that some people are just mean and I just need to ignore them as much as possible.

In order to help celebrate a young man's next great leap into geriatrics, I took a drive to Chicago where all the cool people live... ha, ha (no, seriously I'm considering moving there). Cam's birthday was a beer drinking night split across a couple of downtown bars and one a bit nearer to Cam's house. As well as drinking, we... oh wait, that's all we did.

The next night we went to a house party hosted by one of Cam's coworkers (and I guess mine since we all work for the same company). We drank there for awhile and then headed to a bar to play some real darts on cork boards. I would like let the whole world know that Hallie and I beat Cam and Mike two out of three games including a spectacular final throw by me.

I have posted pictures of the house party here.

Back across the Atlantic an enthused project celebrated my departure from the rainy, windy and cold country of England. They dressed up in fancy tuxedos and drank expensive alcohol - forgetting all about me.

Halo

There was even some dancing as my former manager shakes his tail feather.

A Weekend Visitor

This past weekend I was graced with the presence of a remarkable entity known as Cameron Messier. That's right, the infamous disc throwing, rock climbing, beer bonging resident of Ames made his way to the extremely cold and snowy city of Minneapolis.

The cold didn't hold us back though. Our weekend was packed full of excitment as we watched Gomez play, drank at Glueks, went climbing, went shopping, and listened to some funk at Famous Dave's.

I must note that most of the pictures I have posted from this weekend are stolen from Cam's site (all but the Gomez pics).

Farewell

A young man is making his escape from the ocean of corn and beans that is Iowa; taking leave of a lifestyle known only to Midwesterners. I wished this fellow nerd farewell this past weekend in Ames, Iowa before he makes a new life for himself in Silicon Valley.

I would just like to take this opportunity to wish him the best, and I hope he doesn't forget us lost souls stuck in the monotony of the midwest. Though I am spending a fair amount of time on the same coast, I have yet to see the ocean in the light of day or anything else with the exception of the airport for that matter. So have fun and 'hang ten' Andy!
